The Complete Idiot's Guide to Monty Python
Monty Python was formed in the 60's by a group of people (oh all right, men) who met by chance at the Cambridge University Foot Lice Club.
They soon realised that law and medicine weren't half as much fun as comedy (well, duh!), and subsequently formed
MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS.
The first episode of said
FLYING CIRCUS was screened on 5 October 1969, and entitled "Whither Canada?"
It featured Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, your host, "looking at more famous deaths", including that of Genghis Khan and Jean d'Arc (Joan of Arc for you Anglicised types).

If this is just confusing you, so far, or you don't find this kind of stuff at all funny, why don't you just go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person. Oh, all right, sons and/or daughters and/or can't-quite-make-up-your-minds-can-you of a silly person.

Monty Python's collective genius brought forth such brilliant things as:
The Movies:
MONTY PYTHON'S HOLY GRAIL
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
THE LIFE OF BRIAN
and
THE MEANING OF LIFE

The sketches:
HELL'S GRANNIES
BIGGLES DICTATES A LETTER
THE MINISTRY OF SILLY WALKS
THE SEMAPHORE VERSION OF "WUTHERING HEIGHTS"
and
DISCOVER HOLLAND WITH THE SPANISH INQUISITION

to name but a few.

In order to appreciate Monty Python, it is imperative that you find the following at least slightly humorous:

IT'S THE ARTS
FIGGIS: Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, Panties . . . I'm sorry . . . Schumann, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Bach. Names that will live forever. But there is one composer whose name is never included with the greats. Why is it the world never remembered the name of Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfernschplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nuernberger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitz-weimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shoenendanke-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.
Enough of this nonsense! Back to the Python page!
Why stop there? Back to the
