100 years ago, before what
amounted to world war 3, a secret government project put a Guide in
cryogenic storage until they could find a Sentinel. Now, in a world where
Guides no longer exist, the Guide is found. A couple of plot devices
tweaked the cliche and it got a little too expository in some places. I'm
not sure what's rubbing my suspension of disbelief the wrong way, exactly,
but I think it's those two things. |

An old girl friend of Blair's
dies and leaves him a four year old son to take care of and promise to
keep. It's not all puppies and sunshine, though. Her estranged parents
want to keep their last link to their daughter and life has a way of
making everything worse. Blair has to make some tough decisions. The
twist, while thoroughly believable, caught me completely by surprise. Very
good work on character, too. |

In
a world where sentinels and guides are recognized and celebrated, one
sentinel's painful past leads him to avoid a bond at all costs, even as
his emerging senses demand one, while one guide struggles to hide the dark
secrets that caused him to be branded an outcast. (Author's description).
Okay, the W.O.L.F. thing was serious cheeze whiz just because it's after
the wolf. Other than that, no bitching. Does a fabulous job creating an
intimate relationship between the two that's touching and non-sexual. It
could be pre-slash, if you want to read it that way. |
