Baby Pattern Baldness
1/31/2003
Wow! The last day of January. Only two more days to Groundhog's day, the best day of the year! (I really enjoy it, and I am trying to whip up a fever of excitement). On Groundhog's day, as we have no groundhog, I think we will dress Kylie up very warmly and take her outside to see if she can spot her shadow. Will there be six more weeks of winter? Or will there be an early spring? Here in Hitachi, even the middle of winter feels like spring in Minnesota, so I don't mind too much either way.
And speaking of spring, I have started dreaming about the tomatoes and other vegetables I will grow, and mash into a fine paste to feed to my darling daughter, so she can smear them around her face and anything within reach.. But as most Minnesotans, I think winter got the best of me again, and I have no fewer than NINE KINDS of tomatoes planned for the garden. I imagine come August I (and every neighbor within 4 doors of us) will be heartily sick of tomatoes, regardless if there are 9 kinds to choose from. And what was I thinking, planting 5 rows of beets! (Here in Hitachi, we can grow root crops (or heavily sugared crops) over the winter. Aren't YOU jealous!) Do babies even like beets? Hmmm......

Today we were wondering what kind of photo to take, and Mayuho had the great idea of giving Kylie a comb-over, or as we call them here in Japan, a "Barcode." You can't really tell though...
