Today is a great day ,because Kylie officially became a US Citizen! I got up at 4:30, took the 5:34 train to Tokyo, took the subway to the American Embassy, and was first in line at 8:20AM. Of course, I was the only one there. I probably could have gone in later and had the same result. But at 9:00AM, Kylie's was on the road to becoming a citizen! In three weeks we should get her passport and social security card. Hooray! Now she can pay taxes! I had taken the whole day off, thinking that the process would move with the usual gov. efficiency, but either things have changed, or I just went on bad days in the past. That was service with a smile, and FAST! I could have made it back to Takahagi in time to teach my classes if I hadn't cancelled all of them. But at least I got to spend the rest of the day with Kylie and Mayuho, a rare treat on a weekday.
