Orcas are found in all of the 5 oceans in the world, and also many of the seas. They inhabit deep ocean waters and coastal shallows. They favor coastal areas and cooler waters rich in prey.  They don't migrate often, they usually stay in one area year round  and only travel in search of prey.
Orcas usually in tight-knit groups. These groups usually include a female with calf, an older infertile female, and a male. A few groups liek these together are called a pod.  Pods use whistles, tones and screams to communicate. Each pod has a unique dialect which is passed down from generation to generation within the pod. Orcas also generate a beam of sound pulses from their foreheads. It is used as sonar navigation or hunting in the dark. When an object is hit by the beam, it sends a reflected sound back to the whale, and the whale can tell exactly what lies in its path.

An Orcas main diet is made of fish, squid, other whales and dolphins, birds, seals, and sea lions. They don't simply attack anything, they concentrate on an abundant species. Then they adjust their hunting methods to catch this prey. They hunt both in groups and solo, whatever will get them food.
