| The "Spar deck" is the first deck on the U.S.S. Constitution. It is lined with row after row of guns or 32 pounders (carronades), there is also a sail capstan, and the large mast. |

| Described: (Navy), a deck below the spar deck, on which the ship's guns are carried. If there are two gun decks, the upper one is called the main deck, the lower, the lower gun deck; if there are three, one is called the middle gun deck. |
| The "Gun deck" is lined with 24-pounders, which got there name form the 24-pound ball they fired. It took about6-14 men to operate a cannon. Also, on the "Gun deck" there were bilge pumps and camboose. |
