Not your usual poet, peterB backs in the door noisily, dragging in the
galvanized garbage cans that hold his "baggage" from other disciplines
behind him. These other disciplines include 35 years as a world-traveled naval engineer and
propulsion consultant, teacher, and technical writer/artist.
Rising up and out of this gearhead curse was actually quite easy, he
claims. After all, he has been "writing" since the age of 12 when
he began writing repair and diagnostic accounts and, later, marine
survey reports, sketches and design criticisms.
That his writing and artwork experiences were not Japanese poetry is
immaterial. peterB says, "writing and art is formseeing 'it,' then putting it
onto paper in a manner that allows someone else to re-see 'it' accurately,
again . . . later. Basho's notes, a ship's log, the geisha's diary,
or a disaster analysisit's all the same stuff." peterB has recently been
published at Haigaonline, and in the journal moonset.
peterB is designing a new website, to be launched later this year. It will include haiga/sumi-e tanka, tanka/haibun, and some choka. When the site goes live, we will mention it here. |
