Battle at Halihaj
News of an Ork hoard spread quickly amongst the men of the Praetorian 117th. They were at the dessert city of Halihaj as a bodyguard contingent for a sect of Adeptus Servitor Engineers. A local uprising against the civil majesty left a major vein destroyed. Engineers from a nearby Forge World were called to begin reconstruction of the damaged bridge. Fearing another uprising, the Planetary Lord placed a small military force to secure the unstable city. The 117th answered the call.
Waag Big Toof was unexpected; in fact military intelligence indicated that the Ork Waag was heading far east of this sector. Imperial Naval ships were in route to intercept. But Orks are unpredictable at best and reports of Ork Rocks smashing onto the surface Rygar 17 caught everyone by surprise.
Lt. Chard of the 117th Red Coats was in the HQ tent at the north section of Halihaj discussing defensive maneuvers with his subordinates when a small ratling named Stout Harkon ran in. Stout was disheveled his uniform a muck and he was sweating profusely.
�Sniper,� Chard glared at the small ratling �what in blazes do you mean by interrupting my meeting unannounced like this?�
Stout embarrassed by the stares various Captains and Lieutenants bowed and said, �My apologies Sir, but I bring news of the Xenos threat Sir.�
Chard clenched his fists, this could not be he thought, he need more time to plan his defense of the city. But he had to remain calm in front of his men. �Go on sniper.� He commanded.
�Yes Sir. The Orks are headed here Sir.�
�How much time do we have?�
�Two, maybe one hour Sir.�
�How many Orks do you estimate, sniper?�
�Sir?�
�How many Orks do you estimate? I must be prepared for a proper engagement, sniper.�
�Sir..well�all of them.�
