Unless you have being living under a rock for the past
three years you would know that the Special Olympics brought
it's glitz and glamour to our little island over the past two
weeks. In truth it wasn't just the athletes who went away with
something and the phrase 'everyones a winner' has never hd so
much of a meaning for so many.
The Opening ceremony will live long in the memory of
1.5 million Irish people who watched it live or attended it, and
the effort put in by so many people, who gave there time for
others will be remember as massively rewarding.
Nothing I can say here will be new, it will just be
repeating what most of us experienced is a week that saw an
Irish olympic team claim over 300 medals, a feat never to be
repeated.
Thank you to everyone connected with the event, and a
special mention to our organisation who provided 80% of the
medical cover for the event, nearly everyone connected with the
Order gave time, form a day to a fortnight and more. well done
to all.... heroes for a week! |
