| At the end of January, 2002, Keith had to go to Langley Air Force Base for a week-long conference, and Tami and Maggie decided to go along for the week for a mini-vacation. We rented a two-bedroom cottage at Ft. Story, a small Army base in Virginia Beach right next to the beach. We arrived in the evening, so Maggie didn't really get to see the beach until the morning. We weren't really sure if Maggie had ever seen the ocean before, as she had come to us from Williamsburg, VA, about 50 miles from Virginia Beach. But after watching her that first morning, it was evident she had never seen the ocean before. This picture is taken just after sunrise our first morning at the beach. And unfortunately, no, that is not our beach cottage in the background! | ||||||||||||||||||

| Maggie really wasn't sure what to make of all the water. She never went swimming, although she liked to wade in the water. The water tasted funny, but that didn't stop her from drinking it. Here's she's checking out a wave. | ||||||||||||||||||
