He is indeed that damn good.  Paul Michael Levesque, better known to most wrestling fans as Hunter Hearst Helmsley or Triple H.  But it all started in 1994 in WCW.  HHH wrestled under the name of Jean Paul-Levesque.  Well his stint in WCW didnt last long as he was dispelled later that year after a loss to Alex Wright (who?) at Starcade.

Before long Vince McMahon had picked him up and immediately started wrestling as Hunter Hearst Helmsley.  He won numerous titles early in his federation career including the King of the Ring.  But the arrogant character that HHH was getting dull.  People wanted something new out of Hunter and as always he would deliver.

Hunter now became Triple H as possibly part of the most controversial faction in wrestling history, Degeneration X.  The original members of the group consisted of himself, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, and the late Rick Rude.  The groups smug and arrogant look didnt appease to many fans, but it was soon after the retirement of Michaels, that the groups popularity skyrocketed.  Triple H during that time became the leader of DX and with his leadership came new members into the faction.  Those members being X-Pac, Road Dogg Jesse James, and Bad Ass Billy Gunn.

All was right in the world for Triple H as DX merchandise was flying off the shelves and the pops the group received were deafening.  Degeneration X and its wild n crazy antics kept them in the spotlight until the summer of 1998.  This is where Triple H went against The Rock at Summerslam for the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match.  Although Hunter won the match, it didnt come without consequences.  Triple H suffered a knee injury that forced him to relinquish the title immediately.

By the time Hunter resurfaced, the popularity of DX had diminished.  Their act was getting lame to some fans, and at Wrestlemania 15 in Philadelphia we saw Triple H ditch DX in favor of The Corporation.  Triple H had finally become a heel.  It took many years but finally in August of 1999 Hunter became the WWF Champion by defeating Mankind.  From there on Triple H would dominated the entire federation for the next year.  Winning the title an additional three times during his dominant reign as the top man in the business.

Triple H had now proven that he was that damn good and throughout the year of 2000 he feuded with many of the top stars in the federation.  Kurt Angle, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin are the highest profile opponents that HHH faced during that year.
