William Ross Burdine 1868--1918
         Mr. Burdine Dies as His Son Answers Draft Call.

  
Mr.Burdine, a carpenter who lived in one of the Latimer cottages on Reynoir street, died about 6 o'clock yesterday evening, leaving a large family,it is said. He is reported to have succumbed to a long confinement with stomach trouble and attending complications. Dewitt Burdine, who has been working at Combel's, although stricken with grief on account of the death of his father, obeyed the stern call of duty to country and left this morning for Gulfport to answer the summons from the local draft board.
            Not Dewitt Burdine But His Brother
    It was not Dewitt Burdine , but William Burdine who went to Gulfport for examination in the draft. He was sent to Dr. Folkes for examination and possibly will be rejected on account of light weight. He works for Lopez & Co.

Dora ( Garrett ) Burdine 1872--1854
                                       Burdine Death
   Mrs. Dora Burdine, 82, native of Montgomery, ALa. and resident of Biloxi for 43 years, died at her home 420 Holley Street Wednsday afternoon.
   Survivors include three sons, Dewitt, Randall, and Mark burdine of Biloxi; three daughters, Mrs.Rufus Lowery, Point, St. Martin; Mrs.L.E.Cox, Roswell, N.M. Mrs. Arnold Bosarge, Biloxi; 16 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
  She was the widow of Ross Burdine and a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral will be from Bradford Funeral Home., but arrangements have not been completed.
 
Mrs. Burdine Buried.
   The funeral of Mrs.Dora Burdine was held from Bradford Funeral Home this morning. Services were by Rev.Jennings Poole of East End Methodist Church. Burial was in Biloxi Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Chas, Jerry and Elvin Burdine, James and Robert Lowery and Clement Caillavet.

   W.B. Burdine Dead
    W.B. Burdine, a native of Georgia, aged 82 years died at the Beauvoir Soldiers Home yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. The deceased had been in the home for seven years. He served through the Civil War in Company C., 3rd Alabama Infantry, and is survived by a widow who is also at the home, several sons and daughters.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 4 0'clock. Services were conducted by Rev.H.F. Tolle and internment was made in the cemetery at the home. Mr Burdine resided in Biloxi for a number of years, where he is well known and at which place a number of his relatives reside.
Mrs. Burdine Dead  4- 23- 1924
   Mrs. Mary Burdine Williams, a former Biloxi resident, who has been an inmate at the Jefferson Davis Soldiers since 1910, died in the hospital at the home last night.She was buried in the cemetery at the home this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev.O.S.Lewis , Pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Burial was made beside the body of her first husband, who died in 1917. Deceased was 76 years old and is survived by the following children :
Mesdames: B.C.Thames, C.G.Quarles, of Hattiesburg, J.A. Permeter, Laurel, and a son, Lomax Burdine of Lake Charles, La.
She leaves a grandaughter, Mrs. D.C.Sprinkle.
