and Black Editorial Policy The
Orange and Black is published to inform, educate,
and entertain the students and faculty of East
High School. The Orange and Black accepts the
Cannons of Journalism of the American Society of
Newspaper Editors as the Basis for good
journalism ethics. The paper is a member of the
Iowa High School Press Association.
The contents of the
Orange and Black should reflect life at East High
and every attempt is made to cover all events and
activities.
We invite and
appreciate letters to the editor on matters of
the readers' concern. Letters schould be brought
to room 222 or mailed to East High School Orange
and Black, 214 High Street, Waterloo, Iowa, 50703.
All letters must be signed, anonymity is rarely
granted.
We reserve the right
to edit or regect any letters, articles, columns,
photos, artwork, and advertisements due to
libelous content, length, and clarity.
Editorials which
contain a by-line are the opinions of that writer.
Unsigned editorials represent the opinions of the
staff and editorial board.
Advertisements are
necessary to pay for publication costs. The
Orange and Black accepts ads according to their
relationship to students and/or staff. The
advisor may be contacted at 291-1829, ext. 2184,
regarding rates and advertising guidelines.
The Orange and Black
is a free publication. It will be available to
all East High School students and staff.
The Orange and Black
will not publish material that is obscene,
libelous, or an invasion of privacy.
The staff of the
Orange and Black will make every attempt to make
the paper the student voice of the high school.
Any concerns should be expressed to the advisor
in room 222.
