T'was the night
before Christmas
Brook Clark with help
from the O&B Staff

T'was the night before Christmas
and all through East High
Strange things were happening
and no one knew why.
Students were home dreaming
of quietly sitting in chairs
Looking at their teachers
with intelligent stares.
The media center was closed
as it is every day
No big loss there
for students always stay away.
Down the hall was Kate Clark
spreading her Christmas cheer
Throwing around streamers
and chugging down "root" beer.
In attendance, sat McGraw
wearing a santa suit
He called in the skippers
and then gave them the boot.
Hobbling down the hall was
Joey McCraney
on crutches once more
He wobbled right and then left
running into the guidance office door.
The office full of confusion
oh what a surprise
Counselors burned schedules
and attempted to organize.
Upstairs three floors
was Cardamon's class
They were two months late
painting Halloween masks.
In other classes
ESL students continued to show
Without O'Brien's announcements
they weren't in the know.
Staring out the window
eyes open wide
They saw a man named Santa
getting out of his "G" ride.
Sliding down the chimney
as fast as he could
In the cafeteria is where he ended up
and there he just stood.
Behind the closed door
there was still a smell
Ms. Meier was baking cookies
made of what, no one could tell.
Turning, she offered him one
along with a Brisk
His tummy rumbled with hunger
so he took the risk.
He grabbed his throat
gagged and choked
Then turned a nice shade of blue
JEEZ Santa was about to CROAK!
Meier became frantic
"Someone help," she called.
"Kienol or Kruse
or how about Stull?"
Around the corner
down the stairs
they all came running
eyes filled with terror.
Calling 9-1-1
and asking for help
Told to push his stomach
he let out a YELP!
Bending over he coughed
and gasped for air
While holding his tummy
he thanked everyone who cared.
He turned and whistled
for reindeer and sled
He jumped in his ride,
smiled and said
"Merry Christmas to all and
to all a good night."
