Diabolik Uncut

MST...Uncut!

Diabolik was one of the better films covered on MST and watching it uncut wasn't a chore at all. Mario Bava -who worked as a cinematographer earlier in his career- creates a bright, crisp, colorful looking film that's cool and oh so very hip.
Yeah, he milks the "mirror reflection" camera shot a few too many times, but at least he's able to direct with some intelligence and style. That's more than you can say for most MSTed movie makers.

Danger: Diabolik ran 99 minutes uncut, which meant a lot had to be whittled away. The first scene to be lost came after Diabolik parks his car in his secret cave

Our thieves are shown taking showers. Eva leaves hers, walks over to where D is taking his and says...
"Be quick"
Servo: "B Natural"
Crow: "Be Quick" is probably this guys middle name"

From here we cut to the office of the Minister of the Interior (played by Terry Thomas) who is having a heated conversation with Inspector Ginko and another officer
Ginko: "Yes, yes sir"
Minister: "Yes sir? Don't try to yes sir, me sir!   You either"
Officer: "Yes sir"
Servo: "Oh no, here we go with the lame comedic exchange"
Minister: what am I going to say to the Prime Minister... yes sir?
Officer: yes sir
Minister: (slaps table) "No Sir!"
Mike: "Third base!"
Minister: "I am going to have to come up with some brilliant idea otherwise he's going to find another Minister of the Interior, and the next man may not have the same understanding of police methods as I have... Can you grasp that!"
Officer: "No sir"
Crow: "Okay movie stop it right now or I'm leaving!"

Minister: "Preposterous to think that one man can make a fool of the entire police force. We're a laughing stock in the world press and our own newspapers are screaming for action! And that is precisely what I intend to do..."
Mike: "Scream for action?"
Minister: "Vigorous, clear sighted action. -Mike: "Well I was close"-  Now firstly, it is obvious to the logical well trained mind, that the first thing that Diabolik is going to do, is to get those dollars out of the country"
Ginko: "Logical suggestion sir"  Minister (smiling): "Mmm, thank you"
Ginko: "But quite useless"  Minister: What?
Ginko: "Diabolik will deal with the 10 million dollars in some quite different way"
Minister: "What quite some different way?!"
Ginko: "The way no mind but his can imagine"
Servo: "He's going to invest in Vulcanized under garments"

After this, the film moves to D and Eva rolling around on a bed full of cash - and this is where Mike and the Bots rejoin the action.

Edit #2
After the debacle at the press conference (Which D sabotaged with laughing gas) there originally was a scene with Ginko in the Police Chiefs office

Chief: You wanna resign hmm, I wanna resign, the Minister wanted to resign and they accepted his resignation"
Servo: "Mike, can I resign from watching anymore of this movie?"
Mike: "Uh, no"
Chief: "But they wont take my resignation and I'm not going to take yours"
Ginko:"But Chief..."  Crow as Ginko: "Bite me"
Chief: "Remember that, but if it's any consolation to you, I've managed to get you those special powers you wanted"
Servo: "You now have the strength of 10 really strong men"

Chief: "But how those special powers are going to help you get your hands on Diabolik, I just don't know"
Crow as Ginko: "Well, Sir - maybe if you gave me a better power than the power of love...."
Ginko: "They might, indirectly"
Chief: "Alright, if you plan to go ahead - and with every blessing
Mike: "Go and fail no more"
Chief: "But this time remember, we want results"

With these words we are then shown several newspaper headlines, telling how the police are going after the gangster Valmont and disrupting his criminal operations.
After this the MSTed version merges back, with Ginko writing on a map.
