USAREC Spouse Seal

The United States Army Recruiting Command Spouse

The eagle, alert and poised, symbolizes the recruiting spouse, who stands a protective vigilance over the family nest, and, in doing so, also protects the flag and the future it represents.
As the ultimate goal of recruiting is peace maintained through a strong volunteer Army, as is it the spouse's.
The olive branch, clutched tightly in the talon of the eagle, expresses this peace and the spouse's hope for an end to all wars for eternity.
The lyre, symbol of harmony, gentility and romance, surround the many facets of the recruiting spouse.
The mightly oak tree represents the never-ending support the spouse furnishes the family, standing tall and strong in the midst of the mightiest storm.
The scale denotes the balance the spouse provides to the family, thus ensuring all aspects of their lives are kept in perspective.
The crossed swords are indicative of the courage the spouse imparts to the family, to accept all challenges and to overcome even the most insurmountable obstacle.
The open book represents the wisdom and knowledge the spouse bestows upon the family.
The double circle enclosing all is the wedding band, symbol of eternity and never ending love.
This circle is broken only by the eagle, here symbolizing duty to country.
The break in the circle represents the many separations, hardships and sacrifices the recruiting spouse must endure.
