BUSINESS BOOK REVIEWS
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey
Teaches a new philosophy in business & personal life
A must. After reading this book you will perceive business & personal life differently. It helps you analyze
your life and identify what is important and what is not. Covey focuses on 3 stages in life: Dependence,
Independence & Interdependence.  The 7 Habits will help you manage all these stages, stressing on
importance instead of urgency, win-win instead of win-lose relationships & suggested ways for recharging
your batteries or what Covey calls Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad , by Robert T. Kiyosaki
What universities & schools do not teach you about money
Kiyosaki tells his own story, how he had a very educated dad who had a good job but who used to work
hard for  money-whom he called poor dad; and his friend's dad who had "money work hard for him". He
called this man his rich dad, the one who taught him a different perspective in business & finance,
redefining the meanings of asset & liability. Very interesting in the beginning, but makes you expect
slightly more practical information than what you get towards the end.
Citoyen du Monde , by Carlos Ghosn & Philippe Ries
    (
SHIFT: English Translation)
Autobiography & biography of Carlos Ghosn, the man who saved Nissan
This book tells the story of a brilliant person of Lebanese origin and his journey towards success. From his
university studies in France to Michelin, Renault, then to the job of heading Nissan who was taken over by
the French auto maker. Crisis management, thinking out of the box, inter-cultural communication, just to
name a few techniques, are carefully juggled by Ghosn. You will learn a lot from his management style.
The book is both educational and fun to read.
Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson, MD
A simple story with mice characters that explains how change can be dealt with
4 mice living in a maze are confronted with a big problem: The location which contains their cheese
suddenly becomes empty.  What are they going do? As you read this book you will find out, and as well
identify people you know with each of the 4 characters. It is interesting to see the different responses
people might have when faced with a sudden drastic change.
The 8th Habit , by Stephen Covey
   From effectiveness to greatness
A follow-up to the book: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People mentioned above. It adds a new
dimension to Covey's concept, one's own voice, fulfillment. Interesting, but not up to the level of the
   previous book.
Selling to the Top , by David People
How to call at the top, make your customers perceive you as a priority & close deals
Very interesting book on the art & science of selling. Mainly focuses on how to identify the decision
maker,   secure a meeting with him/her, use methods of persuasion as well as ways to differentiate
   yourself from competitors.
In Search of Excellence , by Tom Peters & Robert Waterman
   Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies
A book I read several years ago. Very interesting. It is based on a study done on 43 of America's best
run companies. Several business concepts are tackled. Named "Greatest business book of all time" by
   Bloomsbury, UK.
