This is the Engine of my GT.
This is the stock 1.9L CIH, 4-speed standard transmission that comes in the '73. It only has 74,000 original miles on it. One day I would like to make her a little faster. Either a high compression 1.9L ('69-'70 engine), or maybe a 2.2L w/FI from Opel GT Source. I also plan to replace the 4-speed transmission with a Getrag 5-speed.
I replaced the stock Solex 2bbl. carb. with a Weber 32/36 DGEV 2bbl. down draft carb. It breaths through custom cold air intake that I made myself. I ported the intake manifold for better flow and matched it with the carb and gasket.
Exhaust is a 2" pipe running through a Turbo muffler. It has a Sprint exhaust manifold from a '75 1.9L Opel. With the Sprint you get better air flow and less heat under the carb. The stock exhaust manifold has a stove pipe under the carb to heat up the gas. Well, here in TX, we don't really need any help heating things up.
Everything you see in blue is part of the Jacobs system. The spark plug wires are 9mm low resistance wires. I purchased the system on the recommendation of a friend and am very pleased with the outcome. Quicker starting/shutoff, higher revving, better throttle response, more hp, better gas mileage. The system more efficiently burns the fuel allowing for more bang for the spark.
I also installed the Pertronix electronic ignition. No more points and condensor.

This is the new 50 Amp alternator with internal regulator.
