Introduction
My name is Deborah Carmichael and I am the GENUKI
on-line parish clerk for the East Devon parishes of
Axminster, Axmouth, Branscombe,
Chardstock (including All Saints), Colyton, Combpyne, Dalwood, Hawkchurch,
Kilmington, Membury,
Musbury, Seaton and Beer, Shute, Stockland and Uplyme.
Also available for look-up
are parish records for Wambrook,
which was moved from
Dorset to Somerset in 1896.
Chardstock, Dalwood, Hawkchurch, Stockland,
Uplyme and Wambrook were all formerly part of the ancient
Dorsetshire Hundred of Whitchurch (sometimes
called Whitway).
I also have parish records for Combe St Nicholas & Whitestaunton in Somerset.

About GENUKI On-line Parish Clerks
important please read
I am a family historian and not affiliated with the church or local Parish Council in any way.
My focus is on the pre-20th century families who inhabited these parishes.
I don't trace living people and can't re-unite you with long lost friends, try 192.com
House history etc is outside
the scope of my endeavours,
enquiries of this nature
are best directed to local history societies.
I do not live in the area.
All information supplied
is for the purpose of private study and research only.
About my Parish Resources
I use original sources or transcriptions and
indexes made from original sources.
Working with old records is not alaways easy.
Original parish registers are sometimes difficult,
if not impossible, to read.
They may kept in an indecipherable hand,
at other times they may be damaged & in
poor condition.
They can be faint or smudged to the point of
illegibity.
Transcriptions are subject to human error.
Indexes should be regarded as finding aids
only.
For verification purposes I therefore recommend
you check the primary source yourself.
Donations to the parish
chest (e.g. MIs, PR transcriptions, images etc) are very welcome!
All contributions will
be gratefully received and appreciated by researchers world-wide.

Etiquette
very important
Sometimes life gets in
the way of genealogy & my inbox runneth over!
This means that I may not be able to deal with
your enquiry right away.
So please be patient, I
will get back to you as soon as I can.
It might be stating the
obvious, but it is courteous
to say thank you if I
send you information
or spend my time searching
records for you.
Without that acknowledgement
please do not expect any further assistance from me.
Look-up Request
Guidelines
important please read
this too
I only undertake free look-ups as they relate to the parishes and resources named on this site.
Please limit your look-up request to one parish at a time.
Please use this subject header: SURNAME in PARISH NAME
When making your look-up request help me to help you by giving me as much specific detail as you can.
Please don't ask me to undertake speculative
surname searches in a parish
if you do not have any known connection with
that parish.
I do not undertake blanket surname searches for the purpose of one-name studies.
I accept genealogical research commissions on
a fee for service basis.
Privacy Policy
All correspondence is treated with confidentiality.
I will not divulge your e-mail or postal address to anyone without your prior consent.
I keep a
researcher database so can put you in touch with others who might share
your interests,
but I do not distribute
family trees sent to me to other individuals.
You decide how much genealogical
information you want
to share with others.
No genealogical
information sent to me for my files
will be sold to any organisation
for commercial purposes.
