Design and fabrication of a multipurpose padi tractor

ABSTRACT
A cheap and suitable medium-sized combine is needed to replace
the large combines which are causing serious soil damages in the
soft padi soil areas. A prototype multiple-use padi tractor
called PADITRAK was designed based on that of MALTRAK to function
as a soft soil padi tractor, as an infield transporter of padi
in bulk and as a combine harvester. A padi combine implement was
imported and modified for mounting on PADITRAK. An economic
feasibility study of the project was also undertaken. The
projected price of PADITRAK was RM46 000, that of the modified
harvester implement was RM20 000 and that of the dumper was RM3
000. Based on these estimated prices, the economic performances
of PADITRAK when used as a tractor and as a combine were
estimated and compared with those of currently used machinery.
From the analysis, it was found that PADITRAK must have multiple
uses to be economically competitive. Technical drawings were
prepared by MARDI to enable the fabrication of two units of
PADITRAK and the various attachments (platform carrier, dumper
and modified harvester implement) to be carried out with the
assistance of a local farm machinery manufacturer.

Jentuai yang sederhana besar, murah dan sesuai adalah diperlukan
untuk menggantikan jentuai yang besar yang sering merosakkan
tanah sawah terutama kawasan yang bertanah lembut. Sebuah traktor
padi serbaguna yang dinamakan PADITRAK telah direkabentuk
berdasarkan rekaan MALTRAK untuk diguna sebagai traktor padi di
tanah lembut, jentera angkut padi secara pukal dan jentuai. Alat
penuai padi telah diimport dan diubahsuai untuk dipasang pada
PADITRAK. Kajian kemungkinan ekonomi projek ini juga dijalankan.
Harga anggaran jualan PADITRAK RM46 000, harga alat jentuai yang
diubahsuai RM20 000 dan harga pelonggok RM3 000. Berasaskan harga
tersebut, prestasi ekonomi PADITRAK apabila digunakan sebagai
traktor dan jentuai telah dianggarkan dan dibandingkan dengan
prestasi ekonomi jentera yang digunakan kini. Daripada analisis
ini, didapati PADITRAK perlu mempunyai ciri pelbagai guna untuk
mendapat daya saingan ekonomi. Lukisan teknikal telah disediakan
oleh MARDI supaya kerja pembinaan dua unit PADITRAK dan alat
tambahnya dapat dijalankan dengan bantuan sebuah syarikat
pengeluaran jentera ladang tempatan.
