Use of Pedestrian Tractors For Padi Land
Cultivation In Malaysia

ABSTRACT
The extent of padi land in the eight granary areas which
is "soft", where four-wheeled tractors cannot be used, was
estimated at 20%. Another 24% was estimated as potentially
soft depending on the weather. A review of the trends and
practices in mechanical land cultivation in this country
revealed that the size and type of machines used were
determined by the soil condition of the land to be worked
on. A survey on the pedestrian tractor sale and use in the
country showed that over 80% of the pedestrian tractors sold
are 10 hp and above and they are being used primarily for
padi land cultivation. Comparative testing of available
pedestrian tractors under MARDI Rice Research Station field
conditions at Alor Setar and Tanjong Karang were undertaken
and the machinery design features and soil parameters that
affected the field performance of a pedestrian tractor were
evaluated and identified.
dikenalpastikan.
