"Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and a good place to hide the bodies." -Sara
Sara was brought in by Mabui, and has since proven to be mature and insightful. Plus, she takes PHOTOS!
Been reading since:
As long as I can remember. My parents say I started reading when I was three or so.
Been writing since:
Almost as long as I have been reading, or possibly longer if one counts "writing" as the creative process more than putting the words down on paper. I used to create silly poems and recite them for my grandmother when I was only two. By first grade, I had finished a collection of poetry and short stories-- very odd stories about talking lizards and magical motorcycles and how it should be criminal to kill ants with bugspray because they have highly organized societies and it is akin to chemical warfare. By second grade, I was putting out a monthly magazine for my friends and family that included such riveting articles as an interview with my teacher regarding her favorite socks.
Religion:
Catholic, though I tend to integrate things that make sense from other religious and philosophical traditions into my personalized spiritual schema. I'm probably some sort of heretic, but I'm sure He'll understand where I'm coming from.
Political Affiliation:
I like libertarianism, but the Libertarian Party is nutso and entirely too hung up on Ayn Rand *shudder*, so instead I'm a card-carrying Republican with a liberal slant on most social issues, and a certain irksome conscience when it comes to matters of social justice (and an utterly divergent desire to address root causes of injustice rather than slapping bandaids on the symptoms). I like to go to political meetings and call people out on their shit. I'm also a firm believer that in a two party system, it is vitally important that pluralism exist within parties in order to keep discourse and debate subject to a sort of Darwinism of Ideas in order to prevent the absolute atrophy of democracy. Yeah.
Preferred method(s) of government:
Me, as Philosopher Queen a la Plato. I'm dead serious. ;)
Relationship with the Internet:
We lovessss it. It is precioussss to us.
Reccomended Reading:
Plato. Tolkien. Jonathan Kozol. C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia". Tocqueville. Augustine. Oh, and "The Portait of a Lady" by Henry James. I wuv that book.
Why She Writes:
I write to prevent myself from becoming schizophrenic.
Insane Much?
My therapists seemed to think so. I thought they were full of it.
When not running webzines:
Roleplay, cuddle fuzzy aminals, star-gaze, wander aimlessly through wooded areas, study, read, and look at things. Looking at things is wonderful.
To finish, some quote, by someones who are not her. (Woohoo!)
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." - Mother Teresa
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance." - Socrates
"There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth: not going all the way, and not starting." - The Buddha
"Sometimes I go about in pity for myself, and all the while a great wind is bearing me across the sky." - An Ojibwa saying
