To Be More Like Linda

Shock. Disbelief. Denial.
All these could be said of me.
When I heard the news about Linda,
I just didn't want it to be.

"There must be some mistake," I cried
"She was so incredibly alive."
I kept myself awake all night
Wanting a correction to arrive.

She'd given a recent interview saying "Yeah, I'm back!"
She was working on another book.
She spoke of being Paul's girlfriend
But a few days was all it took.

They said the breast cancer was gone
But somehow it spread to her liver.
Even with all the money he has
Life was the one thing Paul couldn't give her.

But she died peacefully in his arms
And they'll be together again someday.
For now her ashes are scattered on their farm
To be near Sir Paul while his Lady is away.

Linda lived a full life
Although it was far too short.
She and Paul were always together
Both on the road and in their homeport.

This is what we can learn from her life
If we take the time to see.
Live every day completely, content in what you do.
Just like Linda, we don't know when the end will be.

She lived her life for the animals,
For her family and her friends.
She poured herself into every moment,
She kept believing until the end.

This is what I want to do,
To learn from Linda's life.
I yearn to live life fully
And not get caught up in the strife.

Linda was an incredible woman
Very few are as great as she
Even though I often fail
More like her is what I long to be.
