Wedding bells for MediaCorp actress and Star Search 1999 champ Vivian Lai, 26, and boyfriend of three years, Alain Ong, 28, chimed in celebration on the 21st July of year 2003. The couple, who met at a friend's birthday party and registered their marriage in 2001, went through the Chinese customary wedding rites in the morning before clinking champagne glasses with 400 guests in the evening at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. They were accompanied by an entourage of six best men and six bridesmaid including celebrity chums Nick Shen, Aileen Tan, Joey Swee, Priscelia Chan and Michelle Liow. Vivian said the event took six months to plan. The Taiwan-born artiste's parents, younger brother, uncle and aunt flew in for the big day. "My parents find Alain to be a very honest and reliable man. They've been reminding me not to bully him!?" she said with a chuckle. The Holland V star and her customer development manager hubby will be living with his parents till their new house is ready next year. But the newlyweds, it seems, were not the only ones in the limelight. Nick, who used to be romantically linked to Vivian, said in mock annoyance, "People have been coming up to tease me, oh, don't feel sad. She's married but you're not the bridegroom. I mean what are you talking about?" Nick, who's also the wedding coordinator, added: "Alain's really very loving and patient towards Vivian."
