ELVES Elementary of the nature that next to the fairies and goblins, it's mentioned in the tradition or folklore of all the nations. It is said they live in the solitary places and are usually confused with other classes of elementary. Originally, elves were thought to be spirits of the dead to be revered, and who could bring fertility. Later, they became evil and malicious creatures, who stole livestock and children, leaving changelings in their place. They are thought to be slightly larger than dwarves (see Dwarves) and more magical and evil than fairies (see Fairies). Different countries have different versions of the elf. Celtic elves are human-sized, while Danish elves are small and beautiful with hollow backs. Elves are invisible to most humans, and possibly for this reason are frequently confused with fairies. English words originating from elves are elf-circle, which is a circular indentation in the woods or grass thought to be caused by elves dancing, and elf-lock, a knot of hair thought to be the mischievous work of an elf. ***
