Wales have gone from strength to strength since the appointment of former
star Mark Hughes to the managers position.  Currently on a record unbeaten
run of 10 games, the team have charged to the top of their Euro 2004 qualifying
group, winning all four of their games.

Amongst their victims, the Welsh have claimed the scalps of such giants as Italy  (2-1) and FIFA World Cup 2002 finalists Germany (1-0).  Add to that the
creditable draws against Argentina and the Czech Republic and it's hardly
surprising that there is serious talk of a first appearance in a major finals since
the 1958 World Cup.

What makes Wales such an improved team is the emergence of players of the
calibre of Craig Bellamy and Simon Davies to complement the likes of John
Hartson, Gary Speed and, of course, Ryan Giggs.

In Giggs and Davies, they possess two of the finest attacking wingers in
international football and the partnership of the powerful Hartson and the pacey  Bellamy has proved deadly.  It is a little known fact that Speed has made more
Premiership appearances than any other player in history.  He and the
combative Robbie Savage form a highly effective shield for what is in all honesty  little more than a good, committed defence.
