INTRODUCTION |

Hi! My name is Lauren Roberts and welcome to my eSkills
Presentation website!
I've just turned 29(!) and after a few years of travelling around the world I finally made the decision to go to university to become a primary teacher. So now I'm at UTS and, fingers crossed, will graduate in 2009. Seems like a long way away but all goals require you to take that first step to reach them. This photo is of me taken on a fjord cruise in Alaska in 1999. I've also included a link to my photo album which has some of my favourite photos - I hope you like them too. ![]() Now that I've almost completed one year of this four year degree I still can not exactly pinpoint 'why' I want to be a teacher. But I can say with complete confidence that starting down this path is exactly what I want to do with the rest of my life. It feels completely right. Whilst standing in front my year 6 class on practicum it confirmed that being a teacher is who I am. But I must say that just the first semester alone was an eye-opener as to what the job really entails for Teachers. I feel that technology has a major role in K-6 education as it provides a gateway to such a wealth of information that was not available even just a few years ago. Continuing to build ICT skills for Teachers is extremely important as the possibilities of technology is endless. Students these days find this technology second-nature so their Teacher must be able to adapt and learn and effectively use the technology to optimise learning possibilities in their classroom. My hobbies include computers, travelling, reading, piano, flute, babysitting my nephews, St Ives Rotaract. |
