TECHNICAL SKILLS STATEMENT

I chose to display this selection of artefacts in my final eSkills Presentation because I feel they best reflect my ICT skills. My technical skills have developed this semester in that I learnt a new software package Inspiration which I have found really useful and an exciting software package. It helped me clarify my points of discussion for an assignment and I can really see the benefit of using it in the classroom with my students.

In high school I enjoyed my computer studies classes and once I left high school I always kept my computer skills up-to-date. I completed the Information Technology Certificate III at Hornsby TAFE which helped me get my first IT job as a UAT Officer with The Mortgage Company testing all the mortgage software. Then, while living in London, I took myself off to a web design course where I learnt to hand-code using HTML. I plan on continuing to develop my web design skills so I may continue to keep this website current while I progress through my university course and into my teaching career.

The learning strategies I find best for me when learning new ICT skills is to actually get on the computer and start using the software ~ a hands-on strategy. I will also borrow from the library an up-to-date reference guide for when I need some assistance. I also find the internet an amazing vault of useful tips about the software I am learning.
