The Dinosaurs and sea creatures such as the Trilobites http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda/trilobita/trilobita.html , became extinct at a time that coincides with the formation of the K-T layer; 65 million years ago. In the K-T layer there are fossils of suddenly-extinct creatures. Some dinosaur remains have food in the stomach, which points to a sudden death. Their death would have come from asphyxiation or gas poisoning, if an impact threw up particles into the atmosphere. The momentum of the impact is capable of fragmenting the Earth. The fragments can drift apart because the continents float on molten rock. The sea creatures can become extinct if there is a sudden change of temperature; some sea creatures survive in cold water, others survive in warm water. The heat of a traveling asteroid will change sea temperature zones upon impact.

       Rainbow                                                                       Trillobite

The color of the sky is blue, but during sunrise and sunset, red appears. The blueness is from the scattering of light from the sun by particles in the atmosphere. How did the particles get there? During an impact, the asteroid cannot deposit particles into the air before landing, rather after impact, the lightest of the particles can selectively move up high enough to alter the colour of the sky.

The reference to a rainbow in the flood myths points to an alteration in the color of the sky.  During rainbow formation, a droplet of rain acts as a prism, refracting light into different colors; red at one end and blue at the other end. Therefore, the rainbow that is mentioned in the global flood myths is a description of the alteration of the colour of the sky from red to blue.  During sunset and sunrise, the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays is such that not all of it can be altered to blue.

The Flood Myth is the story of  The Submergence caused by The Impact. Rain cannot fall continuously to flood the Earth because the source of rainfall is the Ocean! The Ocean evaporates to form clouds. These clouds discharge to form rain. A flood and a submergence are like a glass of water; half-filled or half-empty.

The Ship
that was used
to escape was
a spaceship

The people that inhabited Earth before The Submergence were technologically advanced enough to build Spaceships and live on other planets. After the Cataclysm, those who were living on other planets, came back to assist people.
