"Ifa came down from the heavens in the company of other deities(at that time
there was no physical barrier between the Earth and Heaven)to put Order onto the Earth".

If Ifa had to put Order onto the Earth, it means that the Earth was in a state of disorder after a major catastrophe. In Yoruba l  language, heaven and space are synonymous and are described by the same word (not an accident).  Some verses from the Ifa literature describe a journey from space by Orunmila and the 3 witches:

"The roof has a convex arch  1

Like a cripple who wants to walk,                                                                                                                                                                                                              
 
 but cannot walk,  2

If the cripple tries to walk, 3

He remains on the same spot" 4

"Is your wish solely to get to the Earth?" 5

  They said: "It is so". 6

  Orunmila put the powerful charm of Esu into his mouth, 7

  The Witches began to enter into it, 8

  And so, he carried them into his belly

 Until they reached the Earth" 9

  "Your liver and your intestines are sufficient

  for us to live upon" 10
