Activities and
Vision
On Fire Ministries was formally registered as a non-profit society and registered
charity on June 19th, 1999 though Rev. Klassen, the founder of the ministry, has been doing God's work for about 5 years now, following the mandate the Lord gave to her through Matthew 25:35-40:
35: "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; (36) I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to me. (37) Then the righteous will answer Him saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty ad give You drink?' (38) 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison and come to You?' (40) And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, My brethren, you did it to Me.' (NKJV)
on a personal quest to bring the love of Christ to a lost, lonely, hurting world. Although Rev. Bunnie is ordained as a Pentecostal Evangelical minister, On Fire Ministries is non-denominational, believing that we as Christians all comprise the body and bride of Christ.
Community Activities: In accordance with the above scripture, On Fire Ministries has provided food, clothing, temporary shelter, household items and furniture to many the Lord has sent. We have provided, along with these items, Christian counsel, fellowship and encouragement. Rev. Bunnie has opened her home to a number of people the Lord has sent as a temporary shelter, providing along with the shelter, counsel, fellowship and encouragement. Food donations that have come in have been redistributed to needy families and individuals as well as being given to the local food bank in town when there has been too much for her to store in her small accommodations. The same is true of donations of clothing, furniture, and household articles, in turn supporting such worthy places as the Salvation Army, Big Brothers and Sisters, The Women's Place, Better Babies, the Hospital Auxiliary and local church outlets.
Prison Ministry : We have developed an inmate written newsletter that currently goes out to individuals in 11 countries of the world. Such diverse places as Russia, Japan, Sweden, Zambia and India being amongst them. The newsletter articles, devotions, artwork, poetry and testimonies are almost entirely written by inmates who have come to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior, providing the Christian inmate with a vehicle to do outreach from where they are. They are sent to On Fire where Rev. Bunnie edits and compiles the newsletter, sends it to print and mails it out.
We have found lawyers for inmates facing court, contacted family members on behalf of inmates, provided fellowship through Christian pen-pals as well as provided Christian books, literature and Bibles.
Rev. Bunnie travels to various prisons and street missions in Canada and the US bringing with her a message of hope and encouragement along with books, Bibles and tracts to those behind bars and the lost and largely ignored of our society. She has invitations to minister in missions in two provinces of India as well as churches in Kuwait and Australia.
Our Vision On Fire Ministries is now looking to expand our services and we are working on locating buildings to provide a local outreach and drop-in center in our area consisting of hot meals, a food and clothing bank, a lending library of Christian materials (books, study materials, tapes and videos), and a transient shelter, and women's crisis shelter.
We are also excited about a vision for a halfway house for the Christian inmate to come to upon release that will provide fellowship, a chemical dependancy program, counsel, help with job placement and a well-grounded re-entry into society.
We have many offers from Christians wanting to volunteer in such a program and look forward to the expansion of our outreach.
All services of On Fire Ministries have been provided free of charge to those in need the Lord has sent. We wish to continue to do so, but we need your help and support.
