MANIFESTATIONS OF THE ONE
TRUE GOD
The Three Manifestations
of God
There is only One True
God; the Creator of the heavens and the earth and of all mankind (Mk 12:29; Acts 17:24-25). God exists eternally by
Himself, being infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purpose; and
possessing absolute, indivisible deity. This One True Cod has revealed Himself
to mankind in three principal ways. He manifests Himself as the FATHER
(Creator), SON (Savior), and HOLY SPIRIT (Comforter). These three are One and
the same God.
Father
Yahweh God is the Creator of all things, and of course, of
all mankind; thus making Him the heavenly Father (Isa.
64:8; Mal. 2:10; Mt 23:9; 1 Cor 8:6; Eph 4:6). God is "a Father of the fatherless" (Psm. 68:5). He
provides for His children (Mt. 6:8), and also protects them (Mt 10:29; 18:14). As the Father, He gives the
perfect gift of the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him (Jas 1:17; Lk 11:13), and also chastens those who He
loves (Heb 12:5-11).
“God is Spirit.” (Jn 4:23-24); having no "flesh and bones", He is
therefore invisible (Lk 24:39; Jn
5:37; 1 Tim 1:17). There was no god formed before
this One True God, neither shall there be after Him (Isa. 43:10).
Son
The One True God, the YAHWEH of the Old Testament declares: "I, even I,
am the LORD; and besides Me there is no savior."
(Isa. 43:11)
God's plan of
salvation for mankind is through His own intercession (Isa.
45:21-22; 59:16), having to bear the sins of many through sufferings (Isa. 53:12,4-5) and also to die and shed blood (Heb 2:14-
18). For the sake of the salvation of
mankind God assumed the form of man (1 Tim 3:16; Phil 2:5-8). God
was manifested in the flesh when His Spirit entered the womb of the virgin Mary. (Mt.
1:18,20)
The Lord Jesus Christ is called the SON OF GOD according to the flesh (Lk. 1:35; Rom 1:3-4; Gal 4:4), and the very
God Himself according to the Spirit (Mt 1:23; Jn.
1:1-2,14; Isa. 59:6). The
Spirit of Christ is the same as the Spirit of God (Rom 8:9), therefore the Lord
Jesus and the Father are one and the same Person (Jn
10:30). He is in the Father and the
Father in Him (Jn. 14:10-Il; 2 Cor
5:19). "For it pleased
the Father that in Him (Christ) all the fullness should dwell."
(Col. 1:19). "For
in Him (Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
(Col. 2:9).
As God coming in the flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished the work
of salvation which He set out to do when He died and shed His blood on the
Cross (Jn. 19:28-34). He was buried and on the third
day He arose from the dead. (Lk. 24:45-46:1 Cor 15:3-4) After
his resurrection the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to
many people and continued to speak the things concerning the Kingdom of God. (Acts 1:2-4) At the end of His ministry on earth, the Lord
Jesus ascended into heaven where He continues with the work of salvation (Acts
1:9; Heb 4:14-16).
Holy Spirit
"God is Spirit" (Jn. 4:24) and this enables Him
to be everywhere at the same time. (Jer. 23:23-24; Acts
17:27) There is only one Spirit in the
Godhead (Eph. 4:4,6). This is the same Spirit as the one who created
the universe and mankind (Gen. 1:2; Psm. 104:30; Job
33:4), therefore He is called the "Spirit of your Father."
(Mt. 10:20) This is also the same Spirit
who entered the womb of the virgin Mary to conceive the Son of God (Mt. 1:18,20; Lk. 1:35). This is the reason why He is
called "the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus," (Rom. 8:2) "Spirit of
Christ" (Rom 8:9), and "Spirit of His Son." (Gal. 4:6) Since YAHWEH God is holy (Ex. 15:11; Lev. 11:44; Jos. 24:19; Psm. 99:5) therefore His one and
only Spirit is called the Holy Spirit. (Psm. 51:11; Isa. 63:10-11; Eph. 4:30; 1 Thes.
4:8)
