STOMP

So today was Monday....and I feel like PMS is here :P. I guess it's better to feel it without the Sarafem, then take the Sarafem and not only not feel the PMS, but have a general f!@k off attitude about the rest of life..lol

Still no word yet on my dad from the doctor. I'm gettin' antsy. That is what the shout out to God and Jesus is up there. I'm keeping him in my mind and heart right now (God) and letting him be there for me..as I know he is!

So I really wanna talk about WLS (weight loss surgery) right now. I've been seeing a LOT more stuff on it and reading about it more frequently as of late. Don't get me wrong, I understand that some people just don't have what my sister likes to call "the juice". We define the juice as the strength, be it mentally or physically to lose weight and get in shape the old fashioned way (eat better, exercise). Out of curiosity I went and searched Yahoo for WLS journals to get an idea about the thought process. Well, I'm not sure what to make of it all. There seems to be a lot of journals out there, almost exclusivley women and the majority that I read were really in no better shape if that makes sense. They had been forced by the surgery to eat less and therefore weigh less...but they were...thin fat people, if that makes sense? I read once that weight loss without exercise (which seemed pretty common in the stories I read...yes, I eat less..no, I don't exercise) is just that, weight loss...not fat loss, therefore the end result is a fat thin person. You're really no healthier than you were, that is if you just eat less, but not exercise. What is that all about?

I'm all for it if that's what you think you need to do, or is all you think you can do. However, if you're gonna take surgery as your means by which to "live" healthier, then by all means-----live healthier. Don't just eat less...and enjoy a "thin" body (plastic surgery seems to go hand and hand with it...rapid weight loss---body s a g s), but eat less and exercise and enjoy not only your body, but your life and your health. Live dang it, live!

Did you know that 2 flapjacks w/syrup and 1 pat of butter at McDonalds is 600 calories? Did you know that one plain biscuit is 300?

I found that out this morning AFTER I had eaten their big breakfast! It's ok though....It's Friday:) I'm not eating it every day...so it's all good!

Now that I have some time, I thought I would address my Bill Phillips problem from the first post of February.

I was all gung ho about Mr. Phillps after reading on another webjournal about how his plan rocked...about how much fat she lost and how much iron she pumped. I thought for sure that his structured technique would work for me and I could dig it. Well, after a month..No, I don't think it works. Part of it is that my motivation the past month has sucked donkey d..well, you get the point. It's just toooo structured for me. I think that at some other place in time I may be able to work it, but not now.

For instance: Bill wants you to get up and work out every morning BEFORE you eat. You do 20 minutes of high intensity cardio. Then, you wait one more hour to eat breakfast. In addition, you need with every single meal to have one portion of protein and one portion carb. That's not too hard. However, I get sick of the chicken and turkey and tuna real quick with every damn meal. That's where the protein shakes come in. Those shakes cost money. They ain't cheap. Never mind the fact that some mornings I don't want to work out before work, I'd rather wait till I get home. Well, if you do that, according to Bill, you have to wait three hours after your meal to workout. Well, that blows my afternoon snack outta the water. Then you can't eat till an hour after you finish your workout. So that puts me eating dinner as late as 7:30 at night. That is tooo late for me. It makes me want to eat all night!

All that said...I like Bill. I like his workout plans. However, it just didn't work for me. I lost 40 pounds prior to picking up the Body for Life book and will lose more now that I've put it down. It just wasn't in the cards for Bill and I...sigh

At any rate, as I said..It's Friday. I'm glad the weekend is here. My sister and I are going to go to a health food store and look for some low protein stuff for my dad. He can only have 40 grams a day (to give you an idea...a 4 ounce piece of chicken has like almost 30 in it) so it's important to get the most out of them. We still haven't heard from the transplant doctors and my mother is at her witts end. I just pray this all comes to a close quickly, although my gut says it will not.

Pray for us! :)

February 5, 2002

Well, as you can see (or maybe not) I've changed the layout of my site. I decided I needed something a little brighter! I was tired of all that black.

My fathers doctor visit on the 4th went ok.  They did some blood work and are going to order photos from the last hospital he was at to get a better idea of where he is at right now. I'm not leaning one way or another, but I'm betting on them going on and scheduling him for his assessment.  I'm cool with that. We did find out one good thing though. His sister is the same blood type as he is, so if nothing else she will be able to give him blood (he is O) and best case scenario she might be able to give him part of her liver, as they DO do partial live donor transplants.  She is all gung ho about it. I couldn't be happier.

So since I stopped taking the Sarafem and stopped reading Bill Phillips book (sorry, Bill) I am back on track. Granted, I do think the Sarafem is 95% of the problem, I will get more in to the Bill reasons at another time. Right now, I just want to get ready for bed!
