| Defender Dave Nolan was one of the club's first signings from outside the original Playground FC setting. Dave, the brother of midfielder Mark, made his debut in the club's second match at home to Plumpton Athletic III and went on to establish himself as a regular in the first eleven until a broken ankle at Village of Ditchling III ended his ECFC career. He scored twice in his 16 games at the club, both at Imberhorne in big wins against local rivals - Copthorne Rovers II and, more importantly given Steve Latus was playing for them, Hartfield II. Dave was an important member of a strong backline in the club's early days and it is a shame that he has never recovered sufficiently to pull on the blue and black jersey again. |
