| Out of all the players who have played in goal more than once for East Court, Andrew has conceded by far the most goals per game - two goals a game were shipped with him between the sticks. He made is debut away to Horsted Keynes II back in September 2002. On paper it was a comfortable trip to a poor division 8 side but the match certainly didn't go according to plan. At fault for the first goal when he let a throw-in between his legs before the ball ended up in the back of the net off his back, things didn't get much better. He was at fault again for the second as the home side stormed into a 2-0 lead. Thankfully East Court were able to recover from this dodgy start to storm into the next round with a 4-2 victory. It was the Malins Challenge Cup and the first of ten straight victories in the competition which resulted in the club winning the cup twice. He had to wait a month before getting called back into the starting eleven for a home game against Lindfield III. East Court started brightly, safe in the knowledge that they had won 3-0 away to the same opponents a week earlier. It was no surprise when they took the lead but Lindfield struck back with two goals in quick succession, one beat Seeds at the near post and the other flew in from fully 40 yards. It almost got worse for the home side as another long range effort was saved by the face of the Court number one after it had flown straight through his hands. Sadly this was probably his best save for the club! Thankfully East Court were able to force an equaliser but could not pierce a packed defence for a third time and had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Soon after Andrew was on his way out of the club, following dad Jim and brother Richard out of the door as change swept through the corridors of power at the club. |
