| Saturday 30 September 2006 East Grinstead Town III 0 East Court 6 After last week's disappointment against Ardingly, East Court bounced back to winning ways as they progressed to the second round of the Edgar German Challenge Cup at the expense of local rivals East Grinstead Town III. Court made one change to the side that has lost the previous week with Mark Champion returning at the expense of Andy Wright. The visitors started well on the big East Court pitch but it was Town who should've taken the lead. The Town right winger was causing problems and his cross found an unmarked striker at the far post but he sent his header flying over the bar. Soon after another ball in from the right went over Daniel Lamprell's head but bounced away off the far post. A town attacker picked up the loose ball and forced Lamprell into a smart save at his near post. At the other end the visitors were getting into some good positions but were unable to stretch the opposition keeper. East Court's first chance came from the penalty spot after Town skipper Paul McKenzie was adjudged to have fouled Billy Denyer. Carl Zimmatore stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to score his fifth of the season. Soon after it was 2-0 after an incisive move down the right hand side. It all began when Lamprell rolled the ball out to centre-back Simon Nickols, he played the ball square to Dan Medcalf who moved it onto Ben Sunderland on the right wing. Sunderland played the ball into the channel for Ross Kelly to run onto. Kelly held off the challenge of Bob Smith before sending a cross into the area. Denyer got in front of his marker to head the ball home from close range. With Richard Hayes and Zimmatore controlling the midfield it was no surprise when a third came before half-time. Kelly received the ball inside the area, beat the challenge of Keith Bradshaw and poked the ball home. Soon after half-time Wright came on for Carl Buckler. The fourth goal came when Medcalf robbed Bradshaw in the centre of the pitch. The ball ran to Wright and he played it to Zimmatore, Zimmatore released Denyer who rounded off the move by slamming the ball past the keeper. Wright had a good chance to score a fifth but after rounding the keeper his left footed shot was cleared at the near post. Wright was causing problems with his runs in off the right wing and he got on the scoresheet after Smith left a long ball to run through to the keeper. The East Court played was first onto it and lifted it over the keeper with the outside of his right foot. Moments later Wright was played in again but this time the keeper was able to get something on the shot and it spun just wide of the far post. It wasn't long before Nizam's man of the match Denyer completed his hattrick to make it six. Zimmatore played him in and he fired the ball across the keeper and into the far corner. Town had more possession in the second half but it was only in the last few minutes that they started causing problems to the visiting backline of Medcalf, Nickols, Mark Champion and Nick Palmer. The first chance came when the left winger got free and had a go from outside the box that sailed harmlessly high and wide. The same player had another chance in the dying seconds when East Court failed to deal with a long throw. The ball found its way across the penalty area but he shot wide from just outside the six yard box.
