| Saturday 14 January 2006 East Court 1 AFC Ringmer 4 EAST Court opened the new year with a crushing defeat at the hands of league leaders AFC Ringmer. The home side could feel justifiably unlucky to trail half time by a goal to nil but fell apart in the second half as AFC Ringmer upped the pressure. The match started brightly as the top two sides in division 4 went head to head. The first half an hour was an evenly contested affair with the home side edging it but unable to make a breakthrough. Carl Buckler came closest to scoring for East Court when his effort hit the Ringmer crossbar. Top scorer Billy Denyer also came close but he was only able to steer his shot inches past the post. There was also a penalty shout when Ross Kelly was brought down in the area but the referee deemed the tackle to be legal. Denyer?s corners were causing problems in the away defence but Court were unable to capitalise and paid the price in a mad 10 minute spell. East Court's game fell to pieces and a deflected shot from the edge of the area wrong-footed keeper Dan Lamprell and the visitors had the lead. There were half chances at either end but no further goals. The second half started well for the home side as East Court started tor reassert themselves. It was not long before the teams were level when Lee Champion crashed a free kick into the wall and Andy Wright reacted quickest to fire the ball home. Minutes later Lamprell was adjudged to have fouled in the box and Ringmer were back in front from the spot. East Court struggled to create further chances despite pushing more people forward and Ringmer took advantage of the extra space to kill the game off. Lamprell's clearance from the edge of the area fell at the feet of an opposing midfielder who instantly put it back of the keeper's head to make it three. And as East Court heads went down Ringmer added a fourth when Lamprell spilt the ball in a goalmouth scramble and a Ringmer player fired home.
