| Saturday 29 October 2005 Lewes Bridgeview II 0 East Court 3 EAST Court had to battle hard to pick up three hard-fought points at Lewes last Saturday that moved them up into second place in the table. Goals from Andy Wright, Carl Buckler and Billy Denyer proved decisive in the end as Lewes ended with only ten men. After a couple of weeks where East Court had started quickly they seemed to be stuck in the dressing room as the match kicked off. Lewes were much brighter going forward, snapping quickly into tackles all over the pitch as East Court were pinned back inside their own half. Despite the early pressure Lewes only had a couple of half chances to show for their endeavours as East Court gradually got more into the game. Ben Sunderland wasted the best chance of the half for the visitors after a delightful cross field ball from right winger Paul Brice put him away. As the half wore on though Lewes began to dominate again. At times the away defence was stretched and keeper Daniel Lamprell had to be off his line quickly to clear the danger but for all that he didn't have a meaningful save to make. The closest Lewes came to taking the lead was from a twice taken free-kick on the edge of the area which was fired high over the bar on both occasions. The second half began in the same fashion as the first, both teams playing over the congested midfield and trying to find the front men as quickly as possible with most of the play being forced down the middle of the pitch. It was Lewes who again looked the more likely to score, as East Court pushed numbers forward for corners they were left open to the counter attack but nothing came of it. Then half way through the half the complexion of the match changed as East Court at last found some width and man-of-the-match Andy Wright was freed down the right hand side. His cross seemed to be drifting in but the keeper made sure as he accidentally punched into his own net. Soon after it was 2-0 as Carl Buckler was put in by Billy Denyer to force the ball home. In reaction to the goal the Lewes keeper kicked out at striker Ross Kelly and was rightly sent off. Against 10 men East Court seldom looked troubled and added a third from a Billy Denyer header. Centre-back Adam Shillibeer controlled a dropping ball and lifted a cross back into the Lewes penalty area where Denyer lost his man and guided the ball home to complete the scoring.
