| Saturday 24 September 2005 East Court 3 Chailey 1 EAST Court got their Mid Sussex League Division 4 campaign back on track with a two-goal victory over a tough Chailey side at Imberhorne School on Saturday. With Paul Brice unable to recover from the injury he picked up last week Carl Buckler returned to the starting eleven. East Court started slowly for the second week running and only a mixture of poor decision-making by the Chailey forwards and some last ditch defending helped East Court hang on. For nearly twenty minutes East Court were pinned inside their own half unable to hold on to the ball for any length of time. The defence of Andy Wright, Dan Medcalf, Adam Shillibeer, Nick Palmer and Carl Buckler held firm in this time and left keeper Dan Lamprell with very few saves to make. Even so it was East Court who took the lead midway through the first half. Moments after Billy Denyer had seen his chip from outside the area land on the roof of the net it was 1-0. Andy Wright got free down the right hand side and his ball across to Ben Sunderland was gleefully tucked home. Chailey tried to respond but without the intensity seen at the start of the game and by half-time they still hadn?t managed to equalise. In the second half things went from bad to worse for Chailey as East Court extended their lead to 3-0. Carl Buckler freed Billy Denyer to score the second before a corner for the home side caused confusion in the box. Ross Kelly got his head on the ball in and it fell kindly for Adam Shillibeer to hit home. It wasn't the sweetest strike ever but the connection was good enough to send the ball into the back of the net. Chailey looked despondent but got back into the game with a little over 10 minutes remaining. The Chailey left winger reached the byline and withstood a foul tackle which could easily have resulted in a penalty. His near post ball was met by the foot of a Chailey midfielder and the ball was left nestling in the back of the net. Chailey picked it up for the last ten minutes but failed to stretch the East Court defence enough to score any more and for the sixth time in nine meetings East Court had beaten their big rivals.
