| Saturday 17 September 2005 Turners Hill II 1 East Court 8 FOUR goals from Billy Denyer and a hat-trick from Ross Kelly helped East Court progress to the second round of the Stubbins Challenge Cup at the expense of local rivals Turners Hill II but it could have been much worse for the home side. Andy Wright made his first start of the season with Carl Buckler dropping down to the bench and Ben Sunderland returned to the starting eleven at the expense of Nick Clarkson-Tooze but apart from that it was the same side that drew with Crowborough Athletic III the week before. Turners started brightly without testing the East Court goal but soon themselves a goal down after Billy Denyer found space inside the area and calmly slotted home. Turners were unlucky not to equalise when they broke the Court offside trap only to see the resulting shot cannon back off the crossbar with keeper Daniel Lamprall well beaten. As if to rub it in East Court quickly followed this with a second goal. Denyer found himself in an almost identical position to where he scored his first goal from and duly dispatched the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Denyer then found time to put Ross Kelly in for his first goal of the afternoon as Court found themselves three goals to the good. Before half-time Turners were able to pull one goal back, their first goal in three attempts at home to East Court. The second half was dominated by the visitors once again and Ross Kelly helped himself to two more goals to complete his second hat-trick of the season to put Court 5-1 up. Midfielder Lee Champion then freed Denyer to complete his hat-trick before helping himself to the seventh after his free-kick bounced awkwardly in front of the keeper. There was still time for Denyer to add his fourth from Nick Clarkson-Tooze?s assits. Throughout the second half the back-line of Adam Shillibeer, Dan Medcalf and Nick Palmer were left untested as the midfield trio of Si Nickols, Denyer and Champion dominated. Although East Court racked up a record score against their opponents it could have been even more, Denyer wasted a golden opportunity from just a few yards out, Champion (twice), Denyer, Kelly and substitute James Salter all hit the bar as East Court pushed for double figures.
