| Saturday 16 April 2005 East Court 15 Village of Ditchling II 2 EAST Court put their disappointment of defeat in the final of the Stratford Cup behind them with a goal fest at Imberhorne School on Saturday (April 16). The pattern of play was set from the start with the Ditchling keeper forced into two early point blank saves from man of the match Nick Clarkson-Tooze but it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough came. And once Billy Denyer had scored the first of his four on the afternoon the floodgates opened with the home side 7-0 up at the break. The pick of the first half goals was the last with a move that started at the back with player-manager Daniel Medcalf involving Nick Palmer, Andrew Wright, Martyn Bishop, captain Simon Nickols and Ross Kelly, whose pinpoint ball found Denyer to rifle home. Ditchling did not help their cause when one of their players was sent off for kicking out at Paul Brice at 5-0 and as well as a Denyer hat-trick, Kelly grabbed two, and Wright and Clarkson-Tooze bagged one each in the first half. At half time Paul Bishop came on in goal, with stand in keeper Chris Butler moving into defence and Wright given the rest of the afternoon off. Nickols got himself on the scoresheet with two goals in as many minutes, the first of which was a solo effort smashed into the bottom corner. Kelly was replaced by Sunderland as the goals continued to flow with Brice hitting two, Sunderland one and Clarkson-Tooze netting his hat-trick. Denyer also grabbed his fourth, a beautiful lob over the on-rushing Ditchling keeper. In between Ditchling grabbed a couple of well-taken consolation goals as East Court lost concentration but it did not take the gloss off a great team performance.
