| Saturday 12 February 2005 Jarvis Brook II 1 East Court 8 A LEE Champion hat-trick helped East Court keep up their title challenge in Mid Sussex Football League Division 5 with a resounding victory on Saturday (February 12). But it was the home side who took an early lead when a Jarvis player was left alone in the penalty box and he steered his shot into the bottom left hand corner. East Court were level within five minutes after Martyn Bishop curled a free kick in the roof of the net and the defender put the away side ahead when he thumped the ball past the keeper following a scramble in the box from a Billy Denyer corner. Man-of-the-match Champion grabbed his first of the game when he picked up the ball in the centre circle, beat two Jarvis players and dribbled into the area and calmly placed his shot past the keeper. At half-time Ross Kelly was replaced by Paul Brice and Champion scored East Court's fourth from the penalty spot following a foul on Ben Sunderland. Champion completed his hat-trick after Jarvis failed to clear another Denyer corner and the midfielder squeezed his shot past the keeper at his near post. Substitiute Brice hit the crossbar and Denyer's follow-up was handled on the line but the referee turned down the penalty appeals. Brice got on the score-sheet curling a free kick inside the near post from the edge of the box while Champion turned provider for East Court's seventh when his pin-point cross was headed home by Sunderland. Nick Clarkson-Tooze replaced Nick Palmer while Chris Butler came on for Carl Buckler. Denyer added number eight after Bishop played a through-ball for East Court's top-scorer who turned a defender and beat the keeper with a well-taken finish.
