| Saturday 09 October 2004 East Court FC 2 AFC Ringmer 2 THERE was nothing to separate these two sides in this Mid Sussex Football League Division 5 top of the table clash at Imberhorne School on Saturday (October 9). East Court were without top scorer Billy Denyer with a foot injury but welcomed back player-manager Daniel Medcalf to the defence. Both sides enjoyed good possession in the early stages and it was clear it would be a close game. The away side took the lead with a well taken move but East Court got back level before the break. Andrew Wright played the ball out to man-of-the-match captain Simon Nickols, whose low cross found Ross Kelly. His audacious flick smashed against the post but the rebound fell to Ben Sunderland who steered the ball home. Ringmer had the best of the chances at the start of the second half but it was the home side who took the lead. Sunderland found Paul Brice, who replaced Tom Greig at half time, inside the penalty area and he scored via the inside of the post. The away team scored a deserved equaliser when East Court keeper Paul Bishop pushed a shot away and chased after the rebound. As he challenged the Ringmer player, the ball deflected off his legs into the six yard area at the perfect height for the league leaders to pull level with an overhead kick. East Court could have won it late on when Medcalf ran the length of the pitch and pulled the ball back to Brice, who shot over. However, both teams had to settle for the draw which sees the sides level with Chailey on 10 points at the top of the table.
