Chailey 2 East Court FC 3

East Court FC finished their season with a hard earned win against league champions Chailey on Monday night.

A first half goal from striker Ben Sunderland, and a 25 yard strike from a Chailey player were the highlights of a poor first half, in which neither team played the kind of football for which they have become renowned.

East Court started the second half in much better fashion, and were soon rewarded when Sunderland made the score 2-1 after coolly slotting the ball home after a Lee Champion effort was saved by the Chailey keeper.

The scores were again level soon after when Chailey scored with another long range effort, which keeper Andrew Mackie could only get a hand to.

East Court pressed on and the introduction of striker Paul Bishop only increased the momentum with which the Court attacks were flowing.

The winning goal was the result of a well-worked team move. Martyn Bishop completed a neat one-two with captain Simon Nickols, providing space for player-manager Dan Medcalf, who moved the ball onto Nick Clarkson-Tooze and his flick set up striker Ross Kelly for his 11th of the season.

The win rounded off a good season for Malins Cup champions East Court FC, whose excellent run in form since Christmas will see them playing Division 5 football next season.
