| Saturday 27 March 2004 Newick II 0 East Court 5 PLAYER-manager Daniel Medcalf scored his first goal for the club as East Court effectively ended Newick's hopes of promotion from Mid Sussex Football League Division 6 on Saturday (March 27) and kept their own ambition of going up alive. The away team controlled the game throughout with Newick unable to manage a shot on goal all game. Meanwhile, East Court created opportunities throughout the match and in the early exchanges Ross Kelly shot over and Martyn Bishop saw his free kick saved by a combination of the Newick keeper and post. But the away side took the lead when Bishop's ball over the top found Lee Champion, who cut inside a Newick defender before slotting past the oncoming keeper. They doubled their lead when Billy Denyer's cross found Bishop and after his initial header was saved he thumped the ball into the net. Medcalf got on the scoresheet when he fired home from the edge of the penalty box after Newick had failed to clear their lines. In the second half East Court played some good passing football on a difficult pitch and Duncan Bewley came on for Carl Buckler and Nick Clarkson-Tooze replaced Champion. They scored a fourth when James Crittell released captain Simon Nickols and he burst into the penalty area before firing an unstoppable shot into the net. Andrew Wright put in a cross which Kelly headed against the crossbar and Clarkson-Tooze saw the rebound hit the same piece of woodwork. Nick Dawson came on for Bishop before Bewley was then brought down in the penalty area but Kelly saw his spot-kick saved by the legs of the Newick keeper. But the East Court forward had a hand in the away side's fifth when he laid the ball off to Denyer, who curled the ball past the Newick keeper and into the goal.
