East Court 5 Scaynes Hill II 0

AFTER losing to the same opponents the previous week, East Court, who are sponsored by Herbert Sports, got their Mid Sussex Football League division 6 promtion bid back on track on Saturday (March 5).

The home team dominated the first half and Lee Champion came close to scoring but saw his 25 yard effort smash against the crossbar. Player-manager Daniel Medcalf ran the length of the pitch and was denied by a smart save from the Scaynes Hill keeper. The away side's shot stopper was back in action moments later when he brilliantly managed to turn Billy Denyer's effort over the bar.

East Court took a deserved lead after a scramble in the box and the ball broke loose to Ross Kelly, who poked home. Kelly was denied a second when his diving header was blocked by the Scaynes Hill keeper and the rebound from Denyer was cleared off the line.

At the start of the second half East Court grabbed a second when Denyer was given time and space and he slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Denyer scored again moments later when his curling shot from just inside the box beat the outstretched hand of the Scaynes Hill keeper and nestled in the net. Captain Simon Nickols came close to extending East Court's lead but his long range shot flew just wide.

Carl Buckler was replaced by Nick Clarkson-Tooze and Kelly came off for Sunderland, who made an immediate impact.

Andrew Wright's pinpoint cross found Sunderland and the ball glanced off his shoulder and into the bottom corner. Shortly afterwards Wright came off to be replaced by Duncan Bewley. Clarkson-Tooze was denied by the post but Denyer wrapped things up, grabbing his hat-trick with a chip over the Scaynes Hill keeper.
