East Court 2 Heath Pilgrims II 2

FOR the second home game in a row East Court had to settle for a share of the points after a 2-2 draw with Heath Pilgrims II on Saturday (October 18).

East Court started the better side but despite seeing plenty of the ball they were unable to create a chance.

Heath Pilgrims took the lead slightly against the run of play but East Court equalised almost immediately when Ben Sunderland laid the ball off for Nick Clarkson-Tooze and his shot found the bottom corner.

The home side went ahead when Chris Butler's long throw caused confusion in the Heath Pilgrims box and Martyn Bishop buried the ball past two defenders on the line after the keeper saved his initial effort.

In the second half East Court seemed content to hold on to their one goal advantage and failed to test the Heath Pilgrims keeper.

But the away side always looked capable of an equaliser and deservedly did so 10 minutes from the end.

A Heath Pilgrims shot was brilliantly tipped over the bar by East Court keeper Andrew Mackie but the home side went to sleep for the corner and the ball somehow ended up in the net.

In the end a draw was a fair result and East Court have to re-group for their top-of-the-table clash at home to Chailey - who have taken maximum points from their first six games.
