East Grinstead United IV 1 East Court 6

HAT-TRICKS by Martyn Bishop and Nick Clarkson-Tooze helped East Court to an emphatic victory over East Grinstead United IV in Mid Sussex League division 6 on Saturday (October 11).

The away side started well and took the lead after two minutes whenBishop found space on the left and his cross picked out Clarkson-Tooze, who turned a defender before slotting the ball past the keeper.

East Court had further chances to extend their lead in the first period but a combination of good keeping and poor finishing meant the away team only had a solitary goal advantage at the break.

Indeed United could have snatched an equaliser before half-time when a player found space in the box but the shot was easily saved by Andrew Mackie.

In the second half East Court doubled their advantage when a United player could only clear to the edge of the box and Bishop's shot sailed into the top of the net. Minutes later it was 3-0 when Carl Buckler was upended in the penalty area by United's keeper and Bishop sent the shot-stopper the wrong way with the spot-kick.

East Court were coasting and added another when Tom Greig's cross was met by the head of Clarkson-Tooze. Bishop then scored his third with a thumping header from a Ben Sunderland corner.

United pulled one back when a player managed to get the better of the East Court defence and slot the ball past the outstretched hand of Mackie. But East Court added a sixth when Bishop intercepted a past and his through ball found Clarkson-Tooze who sealed his hat-trick with a well-taken finish.

In the final ten minutes Sunderland hit a post, Mark Nolan saw his shot well saved, as did Greig. Nick Palmer, in his last match before leaving for Canada for a year, also had an excellent game.
