| Saturday 04 October 2003 East Court 2 Jarvis Brook II 2 AFTER last week's cup defeat, East Court gained a well deserved Mid Sussex League division 6 point after a 2-2 draw with Jarvis Brook II. The early exchanges were even, although player-manager Daniel Medcalf almost gave the home side the lead when his run from defence ended with a good save by the Jarvis Brook keeper. At the other end Martyn Bishop, deputising in goal, somehow managed to tip a Jarvis Brook player's header round the post. The resulting corner came off the top of the crossbar but East Court managed to clear the danger. East Court took the lead when Ben Sunderland's corner was inadvertently headed into the path of debutante Chris Butler, who looped his header over the Jarvis Brook keeper. Minutes later the home side doubled their advantage when Ben Sunderland went through and steered his shot past the Jarvis Brook keeper at the second attempt. East Court nearly added a third when Butler saw another header from a Sunderland corner come back off the post and roll agonising along the line. Nick Clarkson-Tooze's follow-up shot hit the same upright and Jarvis Brook somehow managed to clear the ball from danger. It proved a turning point as Jarvis Brook hit back from a corner at the start of the second half. Within five minutes they were level with a well-worked move which finished with a player volleying past Bishop. After that point both sides had chances to win it. East Court's Carl Buckler was pulled down in the area but Sunderland's spot kick hit the post and bounced away to safety. At the other end Medcalf and Nick Palmer both cleared shots off the line while Clarkson-Tooze went close for the home side in the dying minutes but saw his effort well blocked by the Jarvis Brook keeper.
