| Saturday 27 September 2003 East Court 1 Dormansland Rockets 2 A DEBUT goal from Nick Clarkson-Tooze was not enough to stop East Court being dumped out of the Mid Sussex League Sommerville Cup on Saturday (September 27). The home side started well and took the lead when Clarkson-Tooze latched on to captain Mark Nolan's through ball and tucked it past the Dormansland keeper into the bottom left hand corner. The away side had a goal disallowed and Martyn Bishop and a Dormansland player were booked after a tangle. Dormansland deservedly equalised from a free kick and then went close to taking the lead just before the half-time break. Early in the second half a second Dormansland player was booked for a foul on Carl Buckler. A Dormansland forward forced a superb save out of East Court keeper Andrew Mackie, who could only watch as the away side scored with a powerful header from the resulting corner. East Court pushed forward in search of an equaliser and Bishop saw a header cleared off the line. Player-manager Daniel Medcalf saw a goal-bound shot blocked by a Dormansland player with what the East Court players thought was handball but their claims for a penalty were turned away by the referee. Medcalf saw another effort saved and substitute Chris Whiting saw his shot blocked. But East Court could not find a way through against opponents a division higher and were out the cup.
